• I’m deeply passionate about slide guitar, and know first-hand how difficult it can be to learn on your own.

It can be incredibly overwhelming trying to figure out which information to trust online and so, over the years, I have put together a solid pathway for my students.

This means you progress much faster by learning what you need to know, in the right order, and by avoiding bad habits. You’ll get motivated, learn to practise effectively and, with regular lessons, have the benefit of accountability.

I’ve been a professional guitar teacher for over 25 years and am deeply dedicated to helping everyone I teach be successful, whatever their goals.

I studied at Berklee College of Music, taught at London’s Guitar Institute/ICMP for many years, and set up/currently run Auckland’s biggest specialist guitar school.

I’ve studied slide guitar in-depth with slide guitar masters David Tronzo and Joey Landreth, and performed extensively in many styles, line-ups and different types of venue across the world.

  • I teach on Zoom. You just need a decent internet connection and headphones.

    You will get

    • clear, well organised and professionally formatted lesson materials

    • a thorough, structured approach to the materials

    • guidance in the practical application of what you learn

    • specific instructions on what and how to practice

    • the lesson recording to download and review (please note this is for your private use only - not for sharing online or in any other way).

If you’d like to hear from my students, here are a few Reviews.

Topics we can cover in a lesson

If you’re looking to develop your musicianship and slide playing in areas like: technique, improvising, rhythm, composition, ear training, sight reading, finding your “voice” as a slide guitarist/musician etc - then I can usually help :-)

Over many years, I have created a thorough, structured curriculum to develop you as a well-rounded musician - this will give you all the tools and skills needed to do whatever you want with your slide guitar playing.

Of course, we'll reference songs and examples of repertoire along the way, but if you are just looking to learn your favourite songs, I’m afraid I’m probably not the right teacher for you - I focus more on giving you the skills to be able to do that yourself.

I take my responsibility to my students very seriously, and I have high expectations, as I want the best for you. The progress we both want can only happen if you put in the work :-)

  • Lesson formats

I have two lesson formats available.

A one-off lesson - this is where you just want one lesson and have some specific issues you’d like me to help you with in one session.

A block of lessons - if you’d like to commit more fully to your slide guitar learning, this is a more structured, ongoing approach, following my curriculum and based on what I can see/hear you need to work on to achieve your potential on the instrument.

How much will my lessons cost?

All lessons must be paid for in advance. As of September 2023, tuition rates are as follows:

    One-off lesson (55 minutes on Zoom) - US$70.

Block of 4 lessons (4x 55 minutes on Zoom) - US$250 (discounted rate).
(A block of 4 lessons must be taken within 6 months of purchase).
