Ever Bought a Slide…. Then Left It In the Case?
Slide guitar sounds amazing but… when you first pick up a slide it can sound noisy, out-of-tune, unpredictable (and worse!)
Maybe you’ve wondered
which tuning should I use?
which slide, which finger?
do I have to relearn everything?!
how do people make it sound so expressive?
You already know how to play guitar.
You understand chords, scales and the fretboard.
So what if you didn't have to start from scratch?!
In 8 weeks, you will build the slide technique, fretboard understanding and improvisation skills you need to confidently create your own slide guitar solos in standard tuning. Slide guitar without the guesswork.
By the end of the Frets to Slide program, you'll be able to:
✓ Understand essential slide techniques
✓ Navigate the fretboard confidently
✓ Play expressive slide melodies
✓ Improvise your own slide solos
✓ Make the slide part of the way you play
You get:
detailed video content and demonstrations
feedback on weekly assignments
weekly group calls
comprehensive workbooks with lesson summaries
a clear daily practice schedule throughout
a final assignment to work towards
Slide Guitar Without Starting Over

I’ve spent over three decades helping guitarists become better musicians.
I studied at Berklee College of Music with legendary slide guitarist David Tronzo, taught at London’ Guitar Institute for over a decade, and have taught hundreds of lessons through my own guitar school in New Zealand.
I can help you become confident in your slide playing and develop the ability to express yourself with the slide in any musical situation.
I do this by helping you master slide in standard tuning, using the musical knowledge you already have - it’s an approach that is simpler, more creative and gets you making music sooner.
FAQs
-
I’ve designed this course specifically for YOU - if you’re an Intermediate guitarist who wants to add slide to your playing (whether you’ve tried to play slide before, or never tried at all).
This course will give you a thorough grounding in slide technique and creative improvising which you can then apply to your own music.
We’re using the blues in this course, as it’s a great vehicle to improvise over, but you can apply what we learn to any style.

I’m afraid I can’t take Beginner guitarists (by this I meam you’re new to guitar as a whole, it’s fine if you’ve just never played slide).
And, though I LOVE the music, it’s not going to be the thing for acoustic Delta blues afficionados.
The course is all in standard tuning, so if you only play in open tunings - sorry!
-
You need a decent grasp of the basics of standard guitar playing, and you should be able to read tab, fretboard diagrams, chord boxes.
You can play barre chords, including 7ths. You have experience using pentatonic scales and have done at least some improvising.
You have 30 minutes per day available to practice, and time to attend the weekly calls (they will be recorded in case you miss one).
You’re able to use your phone to record and upload audio/video.
You have a guitar in standard tuning with a standard setup (ie not a super-low action shred machine).
Of you’re not sure if it’s right for you, just ask - you can email me at dylan@onefingerguitarist.com - if it’s not for you, I’ll let you know!
-
The course and final assignment are designed to be achievable in 8 weeks. There is a lot of benefit in having the positive pressure to finish in a defined amount of time.
That said, if life gets in the way, that’s OK - you can submit the final assignment anytime, and will have lifetime access to all the content.
